This story takes place before the events chronicled in the Emperor's Wife. It is just a short time after Gaius of Carpinia and his wife Acantha have taken the throne of Vernia. Gaius has taken a cohort of men to meet with Prince Rolen of Morrentia. Relations have been strained between the two empires, and Gaius hopes to establish diplomatic ties once again.
Meanwhile, Acantha has hired carpenters, stone masons and artisans to make some decorating changes in the palace. It's been three weeks since Gaius has been gone and the work started. Albanus, the foreman of the crew, proudly shows Acantha some of the finished work.
Albanus has remodeled many residences for the consuls and rich merchants of Vernia. He is well-know and his work much sought after. He also fancies himself a ladies man, and quite the flirt. He has planned on bedding Acantha ever since she hired him for this task. A dangerous quest, for if found seducing the wife an the emperor, he would find his head in his lap, stuff with his severed cock between his lips.
There are a few items that Acantha notices that need more attention, but she is quite pleased with how everything looks.
Albanus, seeing how pleased she is, puts an arm around her.

So anyway, that's how the story starts. Seems to be a pain to post here. I guess I'll just end up making it a comic and posting to Renderotica and my site.
